This Isn't Really A Good Time...

I’ve seen many elders, deacons and preachers that become frustrated when a congregation doesn’t respond to a work the way they were hoping. “What’s wrong with these people”, they cry, “don’t they care?"
However, it may not have anything to do with the apathy of the congregation. It can even have nothing to do with the nature of the program, the effort put into it, or the quality of the idea. Sometimes, it’s just not the right time.
In Ecclesiastes 8:5-7 we read "…for a wise heart knows the proper time and procedure. For there is a proper time and procedure for every delight, though a man's trouble is heavy upon him. If no one knows what will happen, who can tell him when it will happen?"  We may want it done “this way, right now”, but the truth is “timing is everything”. No matter how much we want something to happen, if the “when” and “how” isn’t right, it’s not going to happen. If we expect everything to happen according to our whims, we will lead a very frustrated life. Some good ideas may have to set on the shelf until the right time or right way to do them comes along.
