One Man's Trash Is Anothers Art

An open-cast mining operation in Newcastle, England has come up with a new approach to dealing with the millions of tons of debris produced by the mine. Instead of hauling the waste away, they have hired an artist who specializes in large sculptures to come and turn the waste pile in an enormous work of art. The junk will still be there only the outside will be shaped in the female form know as the “Goddess of the North.”
This may be a novel approach to mining debris but it is also very similar to what man often does with sin in his life. Rather than recognize sin for what it is, we mold it and shape it, till it becomes more pleasing to the eye. Rather than a scar on our personal landscape, it becomes a source of pride. Think of how many times you hear and see people turn sinful practices into fun or entertainment. Sin is no longer evil blight, it is a treasure.
Unfortunately sin, no matter how it is dressed up, is still sin and leads to death. We must never fool ourselves in to thinking “dressed up” sin is acceptable to God!
