   Norway had a plan to keep death from coming to the country.   Now they knew they couldn’t stop all death but in 1349 the death they feared was the Black Death or The Plague. Bubonic plague had ravaged Europe taking over 60% of its population. However, Scandinavia was isolated enough that had been spared and Norway was determined to keep it that way.   Since the disease was transmitted by fleas that live on rats, Norway made every ship that came into its port go thru quarantine. If the ship had signs of rat or flea infestation, it was turned away; otherwise, the crew (if in good health) and supplies were allowed to disembark as planned.  It might have worked except for one ship that refused to stop and be checked.   The reason?   Is it wrong to not use an instrument of music in worship service? Is it wrong to not drink alcohol? Is it wrong to attend every church service?   Now the opposite of these topics often draw many articles and lesson, as people are curious to find out the limits. But one rarely claims fault when one is not on the outer edge.   In the book of Job when the text is describing the righteous nature of Job it says: When the days of feasting had completed their cycle, Job would send and consecrate them, rising up early in the morning and offering burnt offerings according to the number of them all; for Job said, "Perhaps my sons have sinned and cursed God in their hearts." You may have heard on the news about a documentary that is claiming to have found the remains of Jesus. It is a shabby and flimsy attack on Christianity that the media, in its typical foolishness, has sensationalized and overblown. But in the reporting, I found a very disturbing quote from a so called religious expert, James Tabor, a professor of religious studies at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He said that while literal interpreters of the Bible say Jesus' physical body rose from the dead, "one might affirm resurrection in a more spiritual way in which the husk of the body is left behind." In other words, you wouldn’t need to have an actual resurrection for it to be a spiritual truth.    The only problem for this “expert” is that idea is a direct contradiction from the word of God.
