Let Go of Your Hate

There is a quote from a tv series I watched years ago that has stayed with me over the years.  “When one has been angry for a very long time, one gets used to it. And it becomes comfortable, like old leather. And finally, it becomes so familiar that one can’t remember feeling any other way.”   Words from a fictional captain in a pretend world, but still containing a lot of truth   In a world today that has mechanized outrage, it seems that there are those who are continually mad about something. There is always someone who has done wrong, something to rant about, something to frustrate and irk.   Yet we seem very comfortable in it. The anger gives us a sense of high-mindedness. We are righteous in our anger. We care so much that we must bathe ourselves in disgust and outrage toward those in the wrong.   So, we carry on the grudge. We continue to poke the wound. We wear our hate as a cloak around us, thinking it is a regal robe that suits us we...

It’s Not Hidden Behind The Firewall

Let me suggest a new lyric for an old favorite song: Oh be careful little finger what you click Oh be careful little finger what you type For the Father up above Is looking down in love Oh be careful little one what you post   We wouldn’t lie to our friends but we might post a story that’s not quite true.  We don’t gossip but we share the “news” stories that reek of it.  We would never insult or demean a person to their face but we ‘troll’ and ‘flame’ online.  We would never boast or be vain but we will Instagram our face and possessions.   The Internet often fools us into thinking the screen is a mask, which obscures what we are doing. That mask is an illusion, rather than conceal it reveals. As Oscar Wilde said “ Man is least himself when he talks in his own person. Give him a mask, and he will tell you the truth .”   We need to be very careful how we participate in this growing cyber world. Many well-meaning peo...

Don’t Hate Me

OK, here I go….     I think essential oils sound like a lot of hokum.  I enjoy it when the St. Louis Cardinals get beat.  I stand by my statement that Led Zeppelin is overrated.  I never understood why people waste so much money on their pets.  I think professional wrestling is a lame male equivalent of a soap opera.  I wish we had a better national anthem.  In my opinion, Pepsi Cola is taste abomination.  I’m not for gun control but I am really glad some people can’t have them.  I’m convinced paying anything more than a quarter for a cup of coffee is ludicrous.  I don’t believe Macs are better, in fact I think they are inferior computers.     Do you hate me yet?   All these things are just MY opinion.  I could be wrong.  I may be right.  Or maybe there isn’t a right or wrong in them.  They might just be opinions.   I know however there are some reading this rig...
