The Book That Will Never Need a New Edition


  One of the most flustering things for college students has to be buying books.  According to the Bureau of Labor Statistics, textbook prices have risen over three times the rate of inflation in the past 38 years, a 1,041 percent increase.  Students can’t do much about it since they are in essence a captive audience.  They must buy what the professor assigns.  In many cases the way to save was to buy used older books, but it has become increasing difficult to do because publishers are issuing new editions at much quicker rate.  Since the world change so fast, the books must be constantly updated in order to keep up.

  However there is one book that is the text book for life and it has never needed a new edition.

  In 2nd Peter 1:3  we read, “seeing that His divine power has granted to us everything pertaining to life and godliness, through the true knowledge of Him who called us by His own glory and excellence.”  Here we are told that God has provided us with everything we need to live right with God. The knowledge we need to be saved and live pleasing to God. That knowledge is found in the word of God.

All Scripture is inspired by God and profitable for teaching, for reproof, for correction, for training in righteousness; so that the man of God may be adequate, equipped for every good work.
2nd Timothy 3:16-17 

   God’s word will never need another edition.  New material will not have to be added.  Corrections will not have to be made.  The premise won’t need to be changed for a new audience.  The gospel has been given to us once and for all (Jude1:4).  Rest assured that when it comes to guide for the most important test you will face, it will never change!

The Gift You Give Yourself

    I always hated buying gifts for my Mom. If I got her something like a new set of pans, it was like saying “Here’s something you can use to go make me something to eat”. A gift for her was seemingly a gift for me.   There are however gifts you give that benefit you more than the receiver. For example, forgiveness. When you give it, you are giving it to yourself as much as you are giving it to them. Jesus said that when we forgive others it means God is forgiving us our wrongs (Matthew 6:14-15).  I once read: “ Heaven is where everyone's forgiven. Hell is where nobody's forgiven.  So, when we forgive we pull heaven down into our lives.  When we withhold forgiveness, we pull hell up into our lives ” Give yourself something nice today, Forgive.

Canned Faith

  As Dale Jenkins wrote: “Faith is a little like paint. As long as it’s in the can, it isn't much. Left in the can long enough a gallon of paint will ruin. Faith left unpracticed and unexercised will too….  You can’t just talk about faith.  To be effective, you must be living it out.
