The War Is Upon Us

   In the late 1930’s as Europe moved closer to war, The United States was desperately attempting to remain neutral.  Between 1936 and 1937, Congress passed the Neutrality Acts measure design to keep America out of the upcoming forgiven wars.  These acts set restrictions such as, keeping Americans from sailing on ships flying the flag of a belligerent nation or trading arms with warring nations.  Such activities had played a role in American entrance into World War I, and the nation didn't want to be brought into another war.

   As the Second World War broke out not only in Europe but in China and Japan, American still wanted to remain out of the war.  They began to involve themselves more with passing of the Lend Lease Act of 1941, which allowed the United States to sell and lend weapons to the Allied efforts. The President warned Americans, “…the Axis not merely admits but proclaims that there can be no ultimate peace between their philosophy of government and our philosophy of government”.  Still the United States was divided over how much it should get involved.

   That was until “the day that would live infamy” December 7th 1941.  While Japanese peace envoy met in Washington the Japanese fleet was moving to attack Pearl Harbor. On the morning of December 7th, the fleet did attacked and severely wounded the Pacific fleet. Almost 2,500 people died in the attack.  There would be no more debate. War had come to America

   Today many Christians are in a similar situation. For years, we have watched a war being waged among us, not a physical one but a war of ideas and philosophies.  This war is an attempt to move our society from a view based on God and the Bible to one of human desire and thinking. The battles have been along issues such and marriage, family, homosexuality, gender, and abortion. For a time many have set on the sidelines, not wanting to get too involved, afraid to speak, reluctant to act.   However that will not subdue the enemy.  Much like the Axis, those that push for the moral changes in our world are not content to leave those that disagree with them alone; they will not stop till the Christian viewpoint is erased from our nation. At point will the attack become so bad, we finally we decide to defend what we know to be true and right?

   In 2 Corinthians 10:3-6 Paul writes;
For though we walk in the flesh, we do not war according to the flesh, for the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh, but divinely powerful for the destruction of fortresses.  We are destroying speculations and every lofty thing raised up against the knowledge of God, and we are taking every thought captive to the obedience of Christ, and we are ready to punish all disobedience, whenever your obedience is complete.

   We may not know it but war has come to the American Christian.  Right now our homes are under siege with moral attacks.  Our churches are being corrupted with beliefs that have no Biblical authority.  We now are being force to accept and promote what God has clearly condemned.  Each of must arm ourselves with truth and be ready to defend the faith we have (1st Peter 3:15).  Neutrality is not an option!!
