Back So Soon?

At 7:25 A.M., a man by the name of Vothy Chhay was release from the Clark County Jail. By 8:07 A.M. he was back in the same jail. It only took 42 minutes for him to go and commit the same crime that had put him in jail in the first place. 42 minutes of wasted freedom. Instead of using his new freedom to go and correct his mistake, he simple went back to his former ways.
Paul warns Christians in Galatians 5:13-14 to not make this same mistake by saying, “For you were called to freedom, brethren; only do not turn your freedom into an opportunity for the flesh, but through love serve one another. For the whole Law is fulfilled in one word, in the statement, "YOU SHALL LOVE YOUR NEIGHBOR AS YOURSELF."  It we see the foolishness of Mr. Chhay actions, surely we can see understand the foolishness of a Christian that has been set free from an empty life of sin, that turn back into the sin that separated us from God in the first place. Christ has given us a new freedom but not to waste in our former ways of life but to become more like him (Ephesians 4:22-23).Don’t waste your freedom in Christ. You could end up in a place far worse than Clark County Jail.
