The Final Judgement Will Not Be Overturned


You have the right to remain silent.
Anything you say may be used against you in a court of law.
You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford an attorney, one will be appointed for you
If you decide to answer questions now, you will still have the right to stop answering at any time until you talk to an attorney.
Do you know and understand your rights as I have explained them to you?

  I’m sure you heard this all before, hopefully not directly. It has been a staple of every cop shop and movie for the last thirty-five years.  It’s known as the Miranda warning after the court case that established that suspect under arrest must be informed of their right.


  The case involved Ernesto Miranda who confessed to kidnapping, rape, and armed robbery. His attorney took the case to the Supreme Court and was able to have the case overturned since he was not informed of his right to remain silent or to an attorney. He didn’t escape justice however. The confession was disallowed but the State of Arizona had enough other evidence to convict him. He went to prison and was paroled in 1972.

  But life can be ironic. On the 31st of January, 1976, Miranda was involved in a violent argument during a card game, and was stabbed to death. His assailant, a Mexican national, was because of the ruling was fully informed of his right to remain silent. So he chose to exercise his right.  Without enough evidence to hold the suspect, he was released and fled to Mexico where he disappeared.

For we must all appear before the judgment seat of Christ, so that each one may be recompensed for his deeds in the body, according to what he has done, whether good or bad.
2nd Corinthians 5:10

  Justice in this world is never a sure thing. The guilty go free, the innocent get punished. We attempt fairness and equity, but our human limits seeming prohibit that. But God isn’t limited. He sees all and knows all. On the Day of Judgment all his ruling will be upheld, since they will be right. No one will escape custody; no one will be unfairly punished, no one will get off of a technicality. It’s a scary prospect for us since we all stand guilty.

  We however will not be left without the opportunity to have one to represent us. He have advocate

 My little children, I am writing these things to you so that you may not sin. And if anyone sins, we have an Advocate with the Father, Jesus Christ the righteous;
1 John 2:1
This attorney is provided but you do have to listen to him. He has a way for you to be pardon. You won’t pay but you must obey.

You can’t however remain silent, you must confess him.
You can have an advocate if you put your belief in him. He is provided as a free gift.
You must be willing to change; there is no going back it the crime that got you here in the first place. The old man has to die and get buried, for the new man to go free.

    In Acts 20, there is the tragicomic event surrounding a young man by the name of Eutychus. He did what a lot of folks before and after him did, he fell asleep during a sermon. Unfortunately, he was setting in in the third story window at the time. So instead of nodding off and hitting the pew in front of him, he fell to his death. The good news was the apostle Paul was delivering the sermon and had the ability to bring him back.       I don’t know, however, if we can judge Eutychus too harshly. The Mighty Gulf

  It is hard to get people on two sides of an issue to come together. Each has their own viewpoint, their perceptive, their own foibles, their own understanding.  To gain any common ground there must be something in common. Something or someone that can bridge the gulf between the two.   Could there be a greater gulf than there was between God and man? How could a holy perfect God find a way to connect to the fallen, imperfect mankind? How can one without temptation connect to those who are beset by it? How could limited mortal beings understand an omnipotent eternal God?   In 1 Timothy 2:5, we read, “ For there is one God, and one mediator also between God and men, the man Christ Jesus .” The phrase mediator here describes a person that bridges the gap, a go-between. Jesus was one who could stand in both worlds. A perfect holy one who can understand our temptations, a man who would die yet live eternally, One who was God yet became flesh and dwelt among us. ...

How Dare You!

    Lewis Keseberg was tired of all the accusations against him so he filed a defamation lawsuit against Ned Coffeemeyer the man he saw as responsible for the rumors. The court found that Ned had indeed called Keseberg a “thief and murderer” without any proof but it didn’t rule very strongly in his favor by only imposing a fine of one dollar.  Maybe they were lenient because Ned Coffeemeyr had earlier rescued Lewis Keseberg from a terrible situation.  Maybe it was because the accusations while not proven were highly likely.  And maybe because Lewis Keseberg had admitted to eating people.   Lewis Keseberg was one of the members of the infamous Donner Party, a wagon train that got caught in the Siera Nevada mountain and resorted to cannibalism to survive. Keseberg wasn’t known as a very good person before those events and they certainly didn’t help improve his image. But to sue the very person who saved you seems to define the kind of person he was....
